Our Research and Development (R&D) department plays a key role in the development of demethanation technologies intended to reduce methane emissions into the atmosphere. Our experts from this department identify and analyse the latest technological solutions aimed at effective control and reduction in methane emissions generated in production processes, especially in the mining and waste management industries.
The Research and Development (R&D) department also plays an important role in creating unconventional solutions and improving production processes. Its main objective is to identify, analyse and implement new technologies, and to improve the existing products.
The design of new technological and product solutions in our Group is handled by the Research and Development Department, headed by Gabriel Mura EngD. It is in here that the ideas that arise in the course of our daily activities are captured in a creative process, the results of which are subjected to meticulous and laborious examination. Our research work draws on the experience of our production and service departments, as well as our mine and field divisions. Once positive results are obtained, at the expense of many months spent on testing, the finished solutions are transferred to the Design Office for the preparation of an implementation design. As a result of close cooperation between the two departments, the created solutions are each time tailored to the customer’s needs, improved with the latest solutions and the most up-to-date knowledge, as well as thoroughly tested under everyday operating conditions.
The two organisational units combined include engineers with many years of experience in the fields of pipeline design, demethanation, steel structures, construction, technology and mechanical engineering.
The work of our engineers is supported by the following systems:
- Design of pipelines, steel structures or construction elements—AutoCAD,
- Design of machines and their components, drilling tools or pressure equipment—SolidWorks,
- Strength calculations of machine components—SolidWorks Simulation Profesional, SKF SimPro Quick,
- Development of manufacturing technologies—Esprit CAM, Lantek.
On a daily basis, our engineers deal with the following:
- design of machinery, devices and tools necessary for our core activity, in accordance with the Machinery Directive or ATEX,
- calculations with respect to the permissible load capacity, service life and strength of machine components,
- development of production documentation and technology for the needs of the Production Department,
- design and implementation of pressure equipment or gas pipeline components into production, in accordance with the PED Directive,
- development of manufacturing documentation for each part of pipelines and steel structures according to design guidelines,
- design of a complete methane emission reduction system,
- design of demethanation stations and facilities for the economic use of methane, including in cogeneration systems,
- design of comprehensive or ad hoc demethanation systems,
- conceptual design for capturing methane from landfills or depleted mine goafs,
- design related to a specific application of underground, surface or mobile demethanation stations together with gas pumping stations and stabilisation, as well as pipelines transmitting gas to customers,
- designing gas networks for transmission purposes.
